Ten metro Atlanta high school bands earned a combined $85,000 in awards during the fifth annual Great Atlanta Band Challenge, sponsored by 1-800-TruckWreck and Witherite Law Group in partnership with Hot 107.9 and Majic 107.5/97.5.
The competition, which recognizes the talent and dedication of student musicians, drew 62 entries from across the region. South Gwinnett High School claimed first place and a $20,000 prize, while Griffin High School and Douglas County High School earned second and third place, each receiving $15,000. The remaining seven finalists were awarded $5,000 apiece.
Now in its fifth year, the Great Atlanta Band Challenge has become an important source of funding for local music programs, helping provide instruments, uniforms, and other essential resources for students. The initiative continues to highlight the impact of arts education and the role it plays in student development and community engagement.
Winners were recognized during special check presentations held at each school, where students, faculty, and community members gathered to celebrate the achievements of their music programs.
Through continued partnerships with local organizations and media outlets, the competition has expanded its reach and impact, supporting more schools and creating new opportunities for young musicians across the Atlanta area.
